2025 Ford Explorer vs 2024 Ford Explorer

Serving Hudson, WI

The long-standing popularity of the Ford Explorer is rooted in its perfect combination of style, performance, and modern features. The Explorer’s sixth generation launched in 2020 with the introduction of numerous improvements. In 2025, the mid-generation Explorer benefits from additional updates to its features and style. Our Hudson Ford associates are pleased to help you discover the exciting differences between the 2024 and 2025 Ford Explorer.

Performance

The exceptional performance of the 2024 Ford Explorer carries up to the 2025 model year without change. However, the trim options have been pared down. For 2025, the trims available are the Active, ST-Line, ST and Platinum. The standard powertrain is a four-cylinder, turbocharged 2.3-liter engine that puts out 300 horsepower. The alternative engine available in select trim levels is a V6, turbo 3.0-liter engine that produces 400 horsepower. For every trim level, the Explorer comes with a 10-speed auto transmission and standard rear-wheel drive. However, all-wheel drive is optional across the board. If you select the ST trim, your Explorer will also have upgraded front brakes and a sport-tuned suspension system.

Appearance

The sculpted aesthetics of the 2024 Explorer are enhanced with design updates to the front and rear in the 2025 model year. The front displays a reshaped grille that is rectangular with a subtly curved bottom. The headlights have also been enhanced with both linear and curved LED elements. The front air inlets have dropped slightly. At the rear, the 2025 Explorer has reshaped headlights with a three-prong design. Select 2025 Explorer trims are also available with a black-painted roof. Inside the cabin, you will find new color options and soft-touch materials in the new model year.

Features

The updates to the 2025 Ford Explorer continue with the introduction of BlueCruise, which is a hands-free driving feature. In addition, Digital Experience is now available. This is a software program that supports app integration, internet browsing, and native streaming. The many features available in 2024 are also offered in 2025. These include leather upholstery, a twin-panel moonroof, heated captain’s chairs in the second row, a heated steering wheel, a Band & Olufsen sound system, paddle shifters, a wireless phone charger, ambient lights, massaging front seats, a 13.2-inch touch display screen, Google-based navigation and other equipment.
