What’s New for the 2026 Ford Explorer?
In 2026, the impressive Ford Explorer will continue to be in its sixth generation, and it will bring an exciting update online. The all-new Tremor trim level joins the lineup as an off-road-ready option. The 2026 Explorer will continue to show off the tech and design updates that were introduced in the 2025 model year.
The new Ford Explorer Tremor is a mid-level trim between the ST-Line and ST trim levels. It offers a lifted suspension and a limited-slip differential for enhanced performance. It is also equipped with special wheels and all-terrain tires for added functionality in rigorous driving situations. Inside, this trim level stands apart, with orange accent stitching on the dashboard and steering wheel. The Explorer Tremor is offered with both of the available engines.
Most of the 2026 Explorer trim levels come with a turbo 2.3-liter, four-cylinder gas engine. This 300-horsepower unit generates 311 pound-feet of torque. The Platinum and Tremor trim levels give you the option to upgrade to a turbo 3.0-liter, V6 engine that delivers 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. This engine is standard for the Explorer ST. Both engines pair with a 10-speed auto transmission.
The entry-level features available for the 2026 Ford Explorer are wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker sound system, a Google-based navigation system, heated front seats, lane centering, intersection collision mitigation, a forward collision mitigation system and others. With higher trim levels and optional packages, the Explorer is also available with remote start, a heated steering wheel, a surround-view camera, front and side parking sensors, leather upholstery, massaging front seats, ambient lighting, a wireless phone charger, a twin-panel moonroof, and additional features.
